Hi

Do EE still do this as when i try to search Broadband deals it just gives me Full Fibre broadband deals. I only do basic online stuff so don't really need Full fibre & FTTC is less hassle i guess.

Thanks

@Matt_124  yeh i am thinking there's no point in getting FTTC if copper wiring is ending in 2007 so i may as well do the full fibre as it's no point holding on to old stuff like i do. Even my pc & monitor are old but still working ok. Got to get new pc before October when W11 finishes or pay the $30

Hi

I'm still using my ADSL copper and my optiplex. I'll be moving to FTTP in next months. Where it says I need a double socket, is a single socket ok with a 5 x plug extension adequate?

Also as it's not my house and they have a landline, does that need to go as I hear yer can't have full fibre and separate landline.

Thanks

@gazmix_1973 Not your house then do you have permission to do what you are doing also?

@gazmix_1973 :

  1. A double/triple socket adapter would be better than a 5-way trailing extension.
  2. Who does the house owner get their landline from? Do they have BB with it? Is your BB separate from their landline/BB? If so, they can keep their landline as is. I have FTTP BB & a separate landline from separate providers.

Yes it's my family house but they want to keep the landline and yes I have permission.

Doesn't a trailing extension provide the same electric, it's just there isn't much room for a double socket unless I chip away at some skirting board. .

Thanks

Is the family landline with a separate provider & does it have BB with it?

I didn't mean installing a double socket but just a plug-in adapter like

It'll be tidier & safer than an 5-gang extension socket.

The family pay for the landline & copper wire broadband with EE so openreach i guess. I've had bad issues with those adaptors as the socket is so near the floor it's difficult to get the plug in hence using currently a trailing extension. Currently the extension which has 6 plug sockets has my router, pc & monitor plugged in to it & also i use to charge my phone & a nightlight also another item that needs daily charging taking up all 6 sockets so probably the best way to go.

Thanks

@gazmix_1973 Some off the newer multiblock extension sockets also include filter's, spike protection, Ethernet port protection and multiple USB ports on them also, it's just what you require and the power points you need connected!

So you are thinking of upgrading your family's ADSL BB to FTTP, not as I thought initially installing your own BB separate from your family's? If so, the landline should go along with it & when you order the upgrade to FTTP you should include the landline in the order. Otherwise they will lose it.

You've been talking up to now about your existing ADSL BB, but the true situation really is that it is owned (the contract is in their name with EE) by someone of your family & you are proposing upgrading it to FTTP on the owner's behalf. In this case the landline must follow the order, so they can keep it.
