Extending WIFI

I have always had issues with the poor WIFI signal from my router to certain parts of my home, so many years ago invested in a NETGEAR extender box. However, since receiving an EE Smart Hub Router about 4yrs ago I continently encounter sporadic dropouts in my broadband signal and consequently it means I must turn the extender off and back on to reconnect to the Wi-Fi which can be problematic because it’s located in my son’s bedroom. Is there anything I can do to help, such as maybe get another extender, and if so any make or type that you could recommend, or do EE provide anything for free?

Which Netgear box do you have. 

Honestly there free routers are naff regardless of provider unless it's an eero. I would recommend getting a wireless access point and plug that via the ethernet port into your router, you can get cheap WiFi 6 access points now, I used to use a Netgear one which massively extended the WiFi. 

Alternatively two power line adaptors (one WiFi as well) is another option. One connects via your router ethernet and the other in the area you have problems, you can add more if needed throughout the house.
