Switched from BT copper line to Ee full fibre and I am not impressed with the Ee hub Wi-Fi, the are home app won’t connect on the iPhone, the Wi-Fi on a 500mps fibre is worse than we had on a BT 50mbs, the kids are now complaining about lag on games when they never do before, I have found EE chat helps to be hopeless

The EE Home app is intended only for the white EE Smart Router which you don't have. The EE app should be used with EE SH+.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Does that mean EE deliberately supply an inferior hub so that customers have to subscribe to smart hub plus, if BT hub can supply better Wi-Fi on a 50mbs connection than we can on a 500 mbs then it is clear that I am being scammed to try and get me to subscribe to smart hub plus

@Jim60degrees  No,   The white smart hub is now obsolete and has been replaced with the smart hub+.    If you hub looks like this  then you have the newest hub available and you use the EE app to control it.   The EE home app is only for the white smart hub.

Placement of any Wi-Fi router is also crucial as electronic devices can effect the Wi-Fi signal from a router.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Yes that’s the hub I have but other than looking at the devices and testing speed there is no access to the hub setting through the ee app, and the fact remains a by hub at a 10th of the download speed provided better Wi-Fi coverage and consistent signal than your we hub does , as such I can only assume it is a deliberate ploy to get me to subscribe to smart Wi-Fi which is little more than a Wi-Fi extender and shouldn’t need a subscription

@Jim60degrees When did you switch to get the new router, what model of BT did you have before the switch and if you have not returned it yet, you can put it back on.

I will try that, but on the we app when I test my broadband it says there is an issue and then asks for. The mobile but when I press to start test nothing happens is that something that can be done from your end

@Jim60degrees The Forum is mostly customers like yourself helping out others as best we can. No one has access to EE so if something requires that then you will get directed to speak to EE CS. The new EE Router is or is not supplied but does depend on which router that you had from BT before the upgrade, speed is one but it is not required with that point for you as it is more for the 1gb/1.6gb package, then the other is if landline is required as there is a port missing on some BT/EE older routers.

The EE at home/play/work app is the one that is required to be used by EE Smarthub+/BT smarthub2 routers. The app as far as i am concerned is not the way to control a router, but it is what it is so you either embrace it or hate it, the version is changing often as fixes are applied to correct issues, so what works today may not tomorrow, there are far to many problems that are trying to be addressed at present.

So you need to look at your BT router with regards to the Landline issue, or tell us which one you have. Wi-Fi signal strength may be less than you had previous there are no two routers that are like for like, the lag issue on the EE router there are a lot of complaints about from people who game, you may be able to correct this AND would have to change a couple of settings in the router itself, but it would be better to do this with a PC/Laptop and not a mobile phone. Can help with this if you do wish to give it a go, but there are no guarantee that it may/will fix....
