Does the EE Smart hub support Multicast, mDNS and IGMP Snooping?

Hi everyone. I am having an issue with my Eve Outdoor Cam (EOC), a HomeKit enabled security camera that connects to my EE router via Wi-Fi. The (EOC) periodically switches into 'idle' mode, which means, effectively, it stops working.

Eve Systems' tech support's latest suggestion is that I ensure that my router supports "Multicast, mDNS and IGMP Snooping". I've had a look around the Hub Manager (including all the advanced options), and I've not been able to find a reference to , mDNS or IGMP Snooping.

Does anyone out there know if the EE Smart Hub supports Multicast, mDNS and IGMP Snooping protocols ( which I believe are also known as Bonjour)?

Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the community, @EEUserNEEngland

Which router do you have?

Hi Chris,

My EE router has EE SMART HUB printed on a white sticker on the rear.

I hope that this helps!

Thanks @EEUserNEEngland

I'm really not sure what that is, to be honest. I've messaged one of our device specialists to see if we can answer this for you. I'll post back here when I hear back from them.

Righto Chris!

The full text from Eve Systems Tech Support is:

Please make sure with the support of the router manufacturer that the protocol Bonjour, often referred to as mDNS or Multicast is not blocked at all. Please make sure Multicast, mDNS and IGMP Snooping is enabled if available on the router.

Thanks again Chris!

Perfect, thanks @EEUserNEEngland

I'll post back here when I hear back. It could be after the Bank Holiday.

Thanks

Hey Tomfromsurrey! I had a few calls with EE. The EE reps were unable to confirm whether the EE SmartHub supports "Multicast, mDNS and IGMP Snooping". I asked if they would contact (or could I contact) EE's SmartHub manufacturer and they answer was 'no'.

In terms of my Eve Outdoor Cam (EOD), I can reduce (but not eliminate) the amount of falling into 'idle mode' by adjusting the HomeKit settings for the EOD to turn off activity zones and setting it to report any and all movement (like cars gong past). This means I get notifications far more often, but at least it is recording clips rather than going into idle mode (which means, effectively turning off!). What I want is to limit the activity zone to my front door and set the motion detect type to people so I only get a notification if someone comes to my front door.

Eve Systems will not provide any further support until I can confirm whether the EE SmartHub supports "Multicast, mDNS and IGMP Snooping". So for now, for me, this issue  is being held in the Enterprise's transporter buffer.
