I think you are referring to a social tarrif some ISP's are providing.

You will find all the info HERE.

EE don't offer any social tariffs on their BB altho' Ofcom is encouraging ISPs to do so, but BT does. See Ofcom - Cheaper broadband and phone packages

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP
Hi if I go to ofcom and I get a disabled deal would I have to pay a leaving fee if it’s a different supplier

You don't go to OFCOM to get your BB; you go to 1 of the ISPs it lists as having Social Tariffs.

If you do so & leave EE while within your min. contract term, yes, you will have to pay EE an early termination fee. You committed to stay with EE for the whole contract term, usually 2 years.

Hi, if you click on the link that pip11 posted…

https://www.which.co.uk/reviews/broadband/article/all-you-need-to-know-about-broadband-social-tariff...

… it states in the BT section…

Social tariffs for BT, EE and Plusnet broadband customers

BT offers its social tariffs to current and new customers. Eligible BT, EE and Plusnet broadband customers can also switch to BT social tariffs at any time without incurring an exit fee.

What's required: BT conducts an instant online eligibility check – you’ll just need to supply your last name, date of birth and National Insurance number. BT will use these details to confirm whether you're eligible, and let you know if you can sign up to its social tariff. When your 12-month contract ends, BT will reassess your eligibility.

BT customers can get started on BT’s website or call 0800 800 150.

EE and Plusnet customers will need to contact the relevant call centre to get moved over.

Eligible EE customers should call 0800 079 5122
