Cannot join wifi from macbook Pro 2012

I had a BT Router for years and no issues connecting to my macbook Pro 2012. Either on Wifi or ethernet.
Just switched over to EE and with the new router, ethernet does not work and wifi does not connect. Just says an error with no reason. This is on Wifi 6  and wifi 5.

Any help please.

@RainCloud Do you have any device that is connected by both ethernet and wi-fi so we know if the router is working or not. Which router do you have, is this a new service as well as a change, when did you switch over activate? You can put the BT router back on it will work. Post back your answer.

I have my PC in ethernet and no issues
I have my PS5 on ethernet no issues
I have my Iphone on wifi no issues.

I have the new EE router because I changed from BT to EE on saturday and got the router in saturday.

But for my macbook pro from 2012, no network on ethernet.
No network on wifi either, just says error connecting.

If I use the EE hotspot, that connects, but the speed is less than 3mb download

@RainCloud Have you change any of the default settings on the router since you tried the connection for the mac book.

Would login 192.168.1.254  on your pc and have a look at the wifi WPA mode with regards to that, wpa2-personal would be the first setting to try see if that gets the mac wi-fi up. Save and possibly may request router reset. Ethernet connection is strange for a mac book, cannot remember if it has led status on the side of the macbook for its ethernet port, if so have a look, assume you have tried different cable and swapped ports at the router. You haven't fixed the IP on the mac ethernet for example.

Make sure WiFi Security Type is not WPA-WPA2-Personal or None. Apples don't like them.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Was set at WPA 3 personal. The only thing I originally changed was the wifi password and nothing else.
Wifi did not work, so I used ethernet and that never worked either.

WPA-WPA2 -Personal works.
WPA2-Personal does not work
WPA3 Personal transitional does not work
WPA3-Personal does not work

No connection to internet via ethernet. With no change to the mac or router. My Last BT router had no issues with Ethernet or Wifi.

@RainCloud So you now have wireless working on the mac, is that correct? And you know that the router port is working or not?

It works on wifi by downgrading the WPA
But no access via ethernet with any cable I used and they worked before with the BT router

@RainCloud Your macbook is 14 years old, WPA3 was not even invented at that time, so the macbook cannot handle the new protocol its a simple as that. You are NOT answering the question asked. DO YOU KNOW if the port is working on the router or not. Put the old router back on, you are not gaining anything unless you are on DV and the older router does not have a port.

Excuse me? What is with your attitude, I ask you that! What port on the router?
Oh yes put the old router back
Hey BT I need the old router back please because JimM11 says I need it back.

Now if you DO NOT answer my question on why the attitude. I will ask you again, YOU ARE NOT answering my question.

You demand an answer at times that is clear people are at work.
Excuse me boss, I need to go home and fix my router because someone demands an answer.
