What time on the broadband contract end date does the broadband typically stop working? Is it midnight eg if end date is 8th the broadband will cut off as the 7th ends and hits midnight of the 8th? Or does it still work on the 8th?

@Shan74 You should have had all the pre-installation work done already by Virgin, they do not usually do it all on the same day, are you sure that you have only one Virgin visit scheduled?

As you going to VM, which uses a diff infrastructure, then yes, your EE BB can be switched off at any time of the given day, as there is no physical relationship between the 2.

Yes we are 100% sure thanks .. it wouldn’t have needed any visit if the box had not been BT/Openreach - we already have the kit/hub and it flashes green as the box it’s attached to needs changing. Virgin acknowledged a common problem which only gets small reference in the email sent the day b4 the kit lands…the sales teams aren’t mentioning it at the time of sign up, should’ve been flagged in advance. They’ve assured us should be live post engineer’s visit tomorrow.

So common that it affects every user moving to VM from a BT-based ISP, but it is covered in that highlighted footnote in that email.

@Shan74 Hope that it goes smooth then, good luck with virgin, would look on there broadband forum to start getting familiar with all the different installation types, cable/rog/full fibre. Hopefully you have a cabled system and engineer only has to connect you up and get it working. If you get a type 3 router, question it as they are all recycled from old customers. HTH

Yes they sent a Hub 3 which as you say can be up to 15 years old so will look to get it changed. We had virgin many years ago at this address so should just be a matter of plugging into new box hopefully!

@Shan74 Unless the engineer has a hub in the van, you can forget it, they are very reluctant to swap out what has been sent from VM dispatch, unless the find the hub 3 does not want to work, but at least you know and are aware, go on the VM Forum and see what other users are saying while you have time before the engineer arrives....👍

Just to confirm the engineer switched the hub 3 for a hub 5 they had in the van so all good 👍

@Shan74 Glad to hear it, sounds like it all went smooth, enjoy your new VM service...
