BT to ÈE migration and new hub

When migrating from BT to EE should a new EE hub be provided automatically ?

When I moved over from BT Halo 2 to EE full fibre I was left with my original BT hub and one of the ethernet ports had to be reconfigured for fibre use. 

What are other peoples experiences ?

It should be but many BT to EE movers are being told to continue using their BT SH2 on New EE BB.
