BT broadband to EE 1.6gbps

What a pain it has been to switch over to EE to get new router and faster speeds. Initially I was told they can order the 1.6gbps broadband from EE as I had by complete WiFi and i agreed only then after the phone call ended I noticed they simply transferred over like for like package on EE and found I then had to pay more not much but still £1 more. I was later told to let my order complete and I can then regrade and get the 1.6gb fibre from EE. I then checked on EE and it was still showing as I have the 900mb package. A few days passed, however  to my surprise it now shows I can get rhe 1.6 gbps package from EE. So when I called again to day I was told I can’t get it even though I am on full fibre fttp as the people on the phone said they can’t see the offer so can’t provide this to me  so firstly I was misled and missold what I was ordering then now their site doesn’t match it states I can get which is mis advertising. I have spent a number hours on the phone.

I have just been transferred from BT Halo with speeds of 75 Mb/s, and now all i get with EE is 48 Mb/s. Has anyone else had this happen?

Mine came the next day, so hang in there.

I’m having the same problem, 1st it was exit fees of nearly £900  and then an advisor badgered me over why did I need the extra speed. And the straw that broke the camels back was I couldn’t have the 1.6gb at the advertised price of £69.99.

I’m currently on BT Halo+3 FF900mb.

It looks like I may have solved the mess, with switching from BT to EE, when I phoned EE earlier, they said there was a problem with my bill, even though I'd paid it the moment I got the message that it was available, which is what was stopping the switch.

I ended up phoning BT, and they said there was nothing wrong with my bill or account, and when I explained to him what I wanted to do, he said the order had gone through I'm assuming it's the 1.6gb FF and he said if I do get exit fees, which I shouldn't do, then phone back and see where it went wrong.

So the next 10 days will be a testing time, with the switch over on the 14th Mar, and the final BT bill 24 / 48 hours later.

Hi, had my ONT upgraded today to the new 2.5G one. I hadn't realised the EE Smart Hub Plus didn't have any 2.5G ethernet ports (odd). Did you simply replace your Smart Hub Plus with the Asus ROG router? did you need any EE username or passwords to get it connected or was it a simple plug in and go?

@iceman10 : The WAN port is 2.5 Gig.

The EE BB PPPoE Username/pwd is the same as BT's: bthomehub@btbroadband.com /BT or blank

That offer of 1.6gb is a load of cobblers, I asked was it available to BT transfers via the community forum on BT, and would I incur exit fees, on one question it was 'yes' as available and on the other 'no' on the exit fees.

Then the trouble began, I was past from pillar to post, until I found out that the 1.6gb is for NEW contracts only, and transfers are only allowed up to 900mb, plus I would lose functionality because the EE 900mb doesn't include the Wi-Fi extender disc, whereas the 1.6gb does.

So I gave up, as I'm sick to death of being LIED to by both EE & BT.

I was on Fibre 900 Halo 3 with BT and migrated over to the 1.6Gbps connection with no exit fees. Unless something has changed the agents you’re speaking with are not fully trained and are giving you the wrong information.

Being totally honest with you, 3-4 months later it’s probably better you stay on Fibre900 unless you have loads of WiFi 7 devices and are willing to pay for your own router.

The EE router isn’t fit for purpose, controls don’t work half the time, you get random dropouts where smart devices won’t reconnect so you have to reboot the system and the SH3 can’t handle the speed wirelessly or on wired.

Thanks for that, I’ll stick with what I’ve got, the problem is, the fibre & router for BT is in what was my mothers bedroom and that is at the back of the house , and the Halo 3 disc is in the living room, which is at the front, hence the need for the wi-fi extender.

But thanks again for the pointers.
