Average wait time for FTTP line activation

Hi all,

How long does it take to have a new FTTP line activated?

I'm about to move into a new build flat, which already has the fibre line and termination unit installed/fitted but wasn't sure how long to expect it to take from the point when I order the service and when I can expect it to kick in.

I had hoped, in vain, that FTTP might be faster to get started than ADSL/FTTC services I've used in the past have been... Am I right in thinking that or is it just the same as before?

TIA!

Hi @lth0ms0n,

Welcome to the EE Community.

Installation times will vary area to area.

You'll see the availability when placing your order.

It depends on how much work has been done already. It can be as quick as three days if the ONT has been pretested. Is it an Openreach box that has been fitted?

Given it is a new build and has the ONT, there is unlikely to be phone wires installed, and you may even be in a stop sell legacy products area.

To get a more accurate picture, give the Broadband Care team a call, they should be able to see what is available.
