Hi, I currently have my internet with BT. It is 900Mbps FTTP. I am planning to switch to EE's 1.6 GB FTTP service.
I have a Asus Ai Mesh network I want to keep and want to use my own Asus router instead of the one supplied EE
I'd like to know if there is any configuration I will need to do such as VLAN tagging or is it exactly the same as setting it up for BT FTTP, just setting the connection type to PPPoE and username / password..
Thank.you.

It should be identical to BT. There is no VLAN ID with FTTP.

Thanks this us what I thought.
But when I double checked the configuration for asus on ee FTTP it was mentioning VLAN tagging on the WAN side.
I'm guessing based on your answer it was probably referring to FTTC.

Yes, it would be. You could try 101 if it insists on a value.
Does that ASUS router incorporate a modem? The VLAN ID is on the modem side but the modem is the ONT. Have you set the WAN to Ethernet > PPPoE?
In Using & Configuring a Third Party Router you'll find everything you need to set up your router incl. the BB PPPoE creds. which are now the same as BT's.

As i mentioned in my 1st post I haven't made the switch yet. I'm ordering it tonight.
I was asking to make sure it was going to be a simple plug and play switch.
So from what I understand once the switch is done I should be able to leave everything on the router the same as it is now on BT FTTP especially since both BT and EE use the sam PPPoE and username / password?
No configuration should be needed. Correct?
Any idea how lobg it takes to get the switch done?
Thanks

@Mpearson1968 Have you checked to see, BT to EE is a like for like so the EE FF900 gigabit service, will be surprised if the allow you to get the 1.6Gb/s, time will be 14-21 day's as the ONT will require to be changed over to the 2.5Gb/s interface version!

Why would you be surprised if they let me have 1.6Gbs?
I was directed to them by BT and when looking at the EE website and puting in my full address it comes up as available for me.

Ah, yes, of course, you are not yet on EE. You can't finalise the Asus's settings until you are. So no point yet in wondering about VLAN tagging. It shouldn't even require it.
Yes, EE BB will work just as well with the settings you had for BT.

@Mpearson1968 No problem then if BT are taking care off your transfer to EE and onto the 1.6Gb/s package then go for it!

BT Just said if I wanted faster than 900Mbps to switch to EE.
All I have to do is place the order via the EE website as a new customer and they will take care if everything else.
£60.99 a month plus CPI rise for 1.6Gbps for 2 years seem too good to.not take considering BT want me to renew for £87 just for 900Mbps
