I'm trying to assign a static IP address in my Smart Hub for my Synology NAS.
From watching numerous YT videos, it's (apparently!!) good practice to assign one outside the address range pool of the DHCP - and my Smart Hub pool range is .54 to .253 - so I chose 10 (for example) and the Hub states:
"Error!" The device IP address is not within the DHCP address range."
What am I doing wrong in setting a static IP address for my NAS....?
TIA

You can't! If you want .10 you need to widen the DHCP range. Once you make it Static ("Always use this IP") it can't clash with DHCP assignment.
Really I can't see why EE has restricted the DHCP range on the SH+ when you can't use the IPs outside the range. With other routers you can utilise the outside range for static IP devices, as you've seen advised.
EDIT: I've just realised why they do this. It's to cater for devices that have reserved their own IPs themselves.

@XRaySpeX ahh- OK - so as long as I set it to static, and use a number within the DHCP range, I'll be fine - and the router will always assign that number to the NAS if re-boots, etc...?

Yes. I have my range as .1 to .245 & my PCs stay where I put them at the low end.
