We have a BT answerphone which used to work well. In trying to re-instate my contract with BT in November, I was forced to change to EE. That was a nightmare, still ongoing.
Now I have discovered that although the BT answerphone shows “on”, if anyone calls to leave a message It is NOT recorded there. Instead we get a call later to say we have a message waiting. How do I get the BT unit to record incoming messages?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

@richardc7 Below is the link to the Home Phone help, but you are looking at voicemail and option 4 increase the rings on the EE DV to max and have your unit lower to pick up and answer then record on it instead.
Using Your Digital Home Phone Features | Home Phone Help | EE
Only curve ball to all of this, is IF you are on a call, and a second call comes in and you decide not to pick it up then there is always the possibility that the EE DV voicemail will cut in and ask for the message to be left. You can record your own message on the EE voicemail, saying please do not leave a message on this system, only those filtered calls will hear that, but worst case you just have to dial the voicemail and see if you have any left recordings.
