Access control problems - advice please?

HI
I'm not sure I'm explaining this very well but here goes.
I've set access control times for my young teenager so that he can't get online after 11.30 at night until 9.00 am the following day.   I've set them up for his Xbox, phone and tablet.
It's working fine in terms of the timings BUT when he's allowed back on after 9.00 am each day, he has to set up his wi-fi connection again on each device, sign in and put in his password on each device every time.  Is this normal, or is there something I've done wrong?
I had assumed that his sign on and password info would be retained by each of his devices so that they would just start up again each day when he swithced the devices on?

@Bobbyk1 : Each device should be remembering its router's WiFi connection creds once it has connected successfully for the 1st time.

As a sanity check disregarding the Access Control settings, during the day switch a device to WiFi OFF, wait a min. & switch it back ON. Does it auto connect to the router?
