1.6gb Busiest Home only good for a single home with no streaming

So I had my Openreach ONT replaced for a 2.5gb version Wednesday last week. Minus a blip Wednesday afternoon the speed tests had been 1.6gbps upwards until Saturday night. since then I've dropped to 160mbps to 230mbps from the network to the Superhub Plus. Got an Openreach engineer coming Wednesday but I wonder if I'm now in this circuit of Openreach saying no it's not us and EE saying it's not us. I don't want to keep having the Smarthub replaced as that means reconnecting 50 devices and 3 boosters.

Yes I did read the reviews on here but kind of hoped that any issues had been resolved due to how far EE was now into the 'trial'

Because of the Speedtest function within the EE app which tests the speed of the FTTP to the hub prior to it going to the devices and also the speed to the devices separately

@DaveI-88 Do you happen to have a screen capture that prior to your current values shows both the Router and Device speeds?

@DaveI-88

You need to test the speed via ethernet, Wi-Fi is really a no go for testing accurate speed

Are you using the new EE router assuming you connected to the 1.6GB speed, if yes then the best your going to get through the ports are 1Gb. You really need your own router for 1.6Gb speeds. The EE router was not really designed for a single connection of 1.6Gb, probably designed for sharing out in the house, as apposed to a single user at max speed

As Jim has said best test it early in the morning or very late at night when there is less congestion

Personally I never get less than 1650Mb and on a good day 1800Mb

Also use this a speed tester

@DaveI-88 @Brugie58 The OP is questioning the operation of the 2 stage app speed test and on the first part the lower speed displayed, it has already been reported an suspected issue with the app, and it's hard to imagine what the outcome is if there was contention on the line or something else going on, with the OR visit arranged for tomorrow. It is probably a good idea to leave system as is a present to allow OR to see if any fault can be found. There appears to be reluctance but Ethernet test is the only way to get a base test result before going onward. Agree thinkbroadband is good, trust it way better than fast or ookla.

Hi @DaveI-88

I am just following up this afternoon to double check how things went with the engineer that visited you recently.  I want to make sure you're happy that your broadband service is now performing well.

I have also messaged you privately if you could get back to me when you have a moment that would be great 🙂

Thanks,

Robbie

Well the engineer came, found no problems, called back had a second router this functioned fine for three days again before the speeds it was reporting was 83mbps from the ONT. had another open reach engineer who again tested and had two green lights and full speed to the ONT, the third router was then delivered which functioned fine for two weeks and now I’m back to 83mbps

Was getting max 900Mbps with Pixel , even when connecter to WiFi7

Rocking full speeds with S24 Ultra now though 👌
