Protect your calls, data and online activity with Scam Guard

JordanTA
EE Knowledge Specialist

Scam Guard is a new add-on from EE that uses a network level defence, giving you three powerful ways to fight fraud by protecting your calls, your data, and your online activity.

What it covers

  1. Spam and scam call labelling – ‘I don’t recognise that number, should I answer it?’ We’ve all been there. Scam Guard uses AI to monitor in real-time your incoming calls, so we can detect and notify you of any spam or scam calls by labelling any suspicious calls as ‘Likely Nuisance’ or ‘Suspected Scam’ on your device. Giving you the confidence to know which calls to answer, helping to reduce your chance of becoming a victim of fraud.

  2. Dark web monitoring – Your personal info like bank card details and email login info could be getting shared on the dark web. But what is the dark web? It’s a part of the internet that requires special software to access it. Users can remain completely anonymous and policing it is almost impossible—which all means it’s a haven for illegal activities. With Scam Guard you get Dark Web Monitoring (for account holders), simply enter in the details you wish to monitor, and Scam Guard will scan the Dark Web to see if any of your personal data appears. You’ll receive monthly reports and instant breech alerts if your data is found with tips and advise on how to secure your data.

  3. 3 months free Cyber Security Duo powered by Norton – Scam Guard also comes with access to the 3 months free Cyber Security Duo powered by Norton (for account holders). Giving you complete peace of mind. You’ll get real-time protection for up to two devices against ransomware, viruses, spyware, malware, and other online threats. It’ll also notify you of any suspicious activity on your social media accounts, and it’ll help you create stronger passwords to keep your online accounts safe.

Who can get it

Scam Guard is available to EE Mobile Pay Monthly customers and can only be purchased by the main account holder, who can add it to other lines. PAYG customers cannot access it. Other lines with Scam Guard won't receive Dark Web Monitoring or the 3 months free Cyber Security Duo, which can only be activated by the main account holder.

What’s the cost?

Scam Guard costs £1 per month on a rolling 30-day contract that you can cancel at any time.
At the end of your 3-month free Cyber Security Duo trial you will receive an SMS giving you the option to opt out of Cyber Security Duo. If you want to keep Cyber Security Duo do nothing and you will automatically be enrolled which costs £2 per month.

Terms and conditions apply, see Scam Guard Terms and Conditions | Help | EE for further details.

I’ve had 3. You think out of all the scam calls out there I’ve been that unlucky to have 3 not covered? It’s not fit form purpose. I’d advise others not to get it.

Hi @Username5025

Scam Guard uses a self-learning engine that continuously improves its ability to assess each call, so it’ll become more and more accurate.

When you received these calls did your caller display show a warning stating ‘Likely Nuisance’ or ‘Suspected Scam’?

If no message showed on the device, you can report the call using the Report a scam call online form.

If you have a Google Pixel you can have Google to answer a call for you. It explains to the caller you are using a call monitoring service and asks them to say who they are and why they are calling. The information is transcribed on your screen and you can choose to answer the call at any point - just like the old answer machines we all used to have. I use this every time I don't recognise the number calling, and in every case a scam caller will hang up as soon as they hear the message, and a genuine caller starts speaking so you can intercept. My doctor, for example.

To be fair since I’ve had it for about 8 days ish. It’s recognised loads of calls I’ve received and told me either scam caller or suspected scam caller. So it does work for me.

Scam Guard sounds like a fantastic addition from EE! The three layers of protection it offers—spam and scam call labelling, dark web monitoring, and cyber security—provide comprehensive coverage against fraud.

The AI-driven call monitoring is a game-changer, giving users the confidence to avoid potential scam calls. Dark web monitoring is also a crucial feature, especially with the rise of data breaches. The ability to receive monthly reports and breach alerts with tips on securing your data adds an extra layer of protection.

Access to 3 months free Cyber Security Duo powered by Norton is a great bonus, offering real-time protection against a variety of online threats and helping with stronger password creation.

The cost is quite reasonable too, at £1 per month, and the flexibility to cancel at any time is a plus. It's also helpful to have the option to continue with Cyber Security Duo for just £2 per month after the trial.

Overall, Scam Guard seems like a valuable tool for EE Mobile Pay Monthly customers to safeguard their calls, data, and online activity.

I know what it is, what I’m telling is most of cases are reported here that it is not working because the database is not up to date otherwise the HMRC scam call I received today could have shown spam during caller ID.
