How to shop the best BAFTA red carpet looks live from the event

For the very first time, @EE will be helping film and fashion fans find affordable versions of the BAFTA red carpet looks live from the event…

Every year, the best of British film come together for an annual awards ceremony: the EE BAFTAs. It’s without a doubt one of the biggest events on the showbiz calendar- everyone who is anyone steps out to celebrate the year in TV, but for the BAFTAs 2018, there’s even more reason to be excited.

In what will be a world first, mobile phone network and long standing partner of the British Academy Film Awards EE will enable fashion and film fans to shop their favourite looks for a fraction of the price on the high street, live from the event via the @EE Instagram channel. We know. It’s all very technical, but what happens is that the Instagram channel uses a ‘4GEE style scanner’ to capture stars outfits on the red carpet via a rig fixed with 12 Google Pixel 2 cameras to create a GIF, before finding similar versions on the high street for followers to shop. All you need to do is follow @EE Instagram Stories and swipe up when you spy a look you like. Simples.

Now, there are a few reasons I’m so excited for this: 1) Celebs always look flawless, and 2) the EE BAFTAs 2018 guest list is so good, I’m guaranteed to want every outfit. Don’t believe me? The lovely Rochelle Humes will be presenting the red carpet coverage, Margot-can-do-no-wrong Robbie is up for Leading Actress for her role in I, Tonya, and Saoirse Ronan- who has previously won a Golden Globe and been nominated for 4 BAFTA awards- is up for the same gong for her role in Lady Bird. Florence Pugh of Fighting with My Family, The Commuter, Lady Macbeth and more, is also up for the EE Rising Star Award, and if you saw her bottle green Miu Miu outfit at the British Independent Film Awards, you’ll know why she’s worthy of some serious wardrobe envy. The best bit? @EE will be finding all the looks at a price we can actually afford.

In short, what I’m saying is that if you don’t already, you N-E-E-D to follow @EE on Instagram. The big event is set to take place on February 18th, with the live coverage going out between 16:30 and 18:00, and I officially can’t wait. Whose outfits are you most excited about seeing? Is there anyone’s look you’ve always wanted to recreate? Check back next week to see how I recreate my fave outfit…
