I'm currently on 100GB data plan, but looks like not 5G one. I'm looking for an upgrade, and perhaps phone with eSIM. Would phone be locked to one network or I would work with any sim card and any eSIM plan from another provider? I'm not sure how this works, but having eSIM/SIM locked to one provider seems silly.

Most contract devices sold by EE are locked to EE for the 1st 6 months, after which you may apply to have them unlocked..

But if I want use eSIM for my personal plan, and spare SIM slot for work (provided) number, which might be on different provider. 6 months is long time to wait. Might shop for phone somewhere else.
