Hi
Ive been told I can upgrade my phone which im planning to do next week but since I started my plan ive become a student - ive received an offer on their for the New iPhone SE
I was wondering is there a way to use that as my upgrade or do I need to cancel my current contract and start a new one for this phone?

I'm not entirely clear what offer it is you've seen, you say "I've received an offer on their" - their what? Or do you mean on "there" as in a student website?
In any case, check the offer to see whether it's an upgrade "keeping your existing number" or a deal to take out a new connection.
If it's a new connection, then you have your answer. In either case you'll need to contact EE to either give 30days notice on your existing account, or see what upgrade deal they'll offer you.

Without seeing the advert in question, we could only speculate as to what it does or doesn't include.
With any online mobile phone deals, I would generally assume that they're on brand new connections unless they specifically state the phrase "keep your existing number".
But you'd need to contact Student Beans or post a link to the offer on here, to be sure.

Welcome to the community, @ThomasStringer. 🙂
Could you get the code from Student Beans and try and enter it at the checkout when you're upgrading please?
Let us know what happens.
Chris 🙂
