Stolen phone

Hi 

My daughters phone was stolen on a night out while she was at university. 
made a claim on my contents insurance. They require proof that the sim and phone have been blocked . EE have issued a new sim and we were told that the old sim will be blocked automatically once the new sim becomes operational. EE will not issue confirmation that the sim has been blocked along with the phone . The insurance company require proof that it has. I’m soooo frustrated please help .
