I've just upgraded to a Samsung S20 Ultra and I'm on December's security patch.
Just want to hear from other Samsung flagship owners about their security patch experiences, specifically how quickly EE roll out their patches and how far beyond most other people with S20 series devices are.
I'm still within my 14 days so this will be a big factor as to whether I keep the device or not as I know just how critical security patches are.
Edit: I just turned my old unlocked S9+ back on and there was January's security patch waiting for me to install it. So my 2018 phone is more up to date than my 2021 phone.

Hi @PaulF1978,
Welcome back to the EE Community. 🙂
Security patches are rolled out by the device manufacturer, rather than EE.

Hi @PaulF1978
My S20 Ultra is on the 1/1/21.
Thanks,

@James_B Thanks, I just wanted to query that as I did quite a lot of research before posting and there were a number of threads on the forum where people asked the same thing and were told that updates and patches had to be approved by EE before they were issued. Some people with Samsung flagships were many months behind on security patches and I don't want to be in the same boat past my 14 days when I can't do anything about it.
@Northerner Cheers, is yours a pay monthly contract device? Mine is and I'm just wondering why I'm already behind when my 3 year old phone is now more up to date.

Hi @PaulF1978
It was out today. If you go into software updates and check it might be available.
Manufacturers release unbranded firmware first (my phone is unbranded) and then carrier branded firmware as long as it's agreed by carriers.
The newer more complex handsets tend to receive their updates 2/3 as the more easier handsets get it first with Samsung.
Thanks

@Northerner Nope, still not got it. I'm using an EE branded handset. Can I ask what you meant with the "2/3" that was the only bit that confused me. Cheers
