Re: vat invoice

Anyone else thinking of leaving EE if it won't give us a VAT receipt on a consumer contract?

1. Why be so belligerent as to not provide one? You charge it so why not include it on the bill?

2. They're clearly using it to try to push people on to business accounts, which no doubt cost more

3. I'm seriously looking into leaving, it's worth it if I can no longer claim VAT back on my monthly bills... stupid move, EE. Churlish and not customer focused.

Until January 2021 it was clearly marked on even customer invoices.

This assumption is not necessarily valid.

Business accounts can sometimes cost less than a consumer one - it depends on individual circumstances.

Business customers also have access to different additional services than consumer ones.

Previously, EE invoices provided VAT details. I can't understand why they would change that. I'll consider leaving over this. It's not customer friendly, to not provide basic info that customers need

I did an online chat to ask about this

EE online adviser said that -

(1) if you need to claim back VAT from business usage on a personal device, you don’t always need a VAT breakdown (invoice). As per HMRC guidance, you can claim VAT for things such as phone calls from private phones if the total expenditure for each taxable supply is £25 or less (including VAT)

(2) they will email VAT receipts for Dec, Jan & Feb to me

(3) from March onwards, I will receive VAT receipts

A VAT invoice is slightly different, but I think a VAT receipt is sufficient for my purposes, as it tells me how much VAT was charged

I was told they would not provide VAT receipts or invoices on my personal account so I am now in the painful process of trying to transfer to a business account. While they have agreed to keep my current deal I am worried they will screw me over in future years on renewal. How did you get them to provide VAT receipts?

I asked for VAT invoices. They said they would send VAT receipts, and I have received these now, for Dec 20, Jan 21 and Feb 21. The VAT receipts say "This is not a VAT invoice", but they do include a breakdown of fees / VAT, so I think this is sufficient for my purposes

I have a personal EE account, not business

@bristolian do you work for EE?

Update -

I was told that from March 2021, my account would be updated to send me VAT receipts each month. It wasn't

I've just done another online chat and I'm told the only way to get VAT invoices is to change to a business account. Not impressed

Just as an update, I've had Vat invoices for years without a problem on a personal account probably because I've been with them a number of years but got a text the other day saying they will now be converting all customers who have Vat invoicing to a personal account to standard invoicing with no breakdown and that if I wanted to continue getting VAT invoices then I would have to change to a business account but that I could keep the current terms of each contract and pricing until renewal.

Real shame but I cannot go through the hassle of changing and loosing the vat on multiple devices is crazy as well so will have to look at other options.
