Galaxy watch on new contract

Hello,

I've just been given a Samsung watch with 4g. I used to be on EE and am thinking of coming back because my new network doesn't support esims.

Can anybody help me with the process? I need to arrange a SIM only deal for my phone, but I can't see how to add the Samsung watch to my plan and how much extra it would cost.

I'd also like to make sure that I will be able to use my existing number with the watch because I'd like to.leave the phone at home when I go jogging.

Thanks!

Thanks very much.

Hi @Ollybousted,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

Sorry, the Galaxy Watch 4G is only compatible with selected Samsung smart phones. It's the Bluetooth version that is compatible with other Android devices.

James

Thanks @James_B for the reply,

I guess it is no use standalone without a phone or does it need the phone ?

what a shame Samsung should make it clear the specs just say Android 4.0 and over, plus it would be common sense for the Galaxy watch to sync with other Galaxy products,

I've just been looking into this too, @Ollyboustead.

There's some small-print on the Samsung Galaxy 4G page that explains that the 4G aspect will only work on certain networks with a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone and lists the compatible phones.

I wish there was more we could do.

@Christopher_G  @James_B

Is anyone able to give some advice re the Samsung watch and a way forward for Tablet users

If the watch is only compatible with a Galaxy Phone for the 4g capability.

Can I use a compatible -smart phone,  with the galaxy watch.

& also use a Samsung Tab (on a separate sim)

Use Samsung Flow to receive calls and texts across all 3 devices when a single number is called?

Playing devils advocate - what would happen is you registered the Galaxy Watch through a compatible Samsung phone -

Keep that phone online through wifi

and move the sim into a Tab

again use Samsung Flow across all devices?

My circumstance is

- An elderly relative can only use a Tablet not a phone, for size and ease of use.

- They would love a Samsung Watch 3 - as the fall detection, and being able to get notifications along with make and receive calls.

(The tablet is large which is great but not often carried around due to size, so a 4G Watch seem like the way forward)

I think we are prepared to have a Samsung phone in the mix as well, but all would need to be capable of receiving calls and messages to the same number.

any assistance comments greatly received

Having a Samsung Galaxy Watch paired to a Samsung Galaxy phone with a 4G plan would allow the calls to go between the two devices using the same number, even out of range of Bluetooth, @Ollyboustead.

I'm not sure how you could get calls to go through all three devices though.

It may be worth posting in the Samsung Forums. They have experts in their software and technology, if there's a way to do this, I'm sure they'll know.

Please come back and let us know what you find out. It could help other customers who come across this post in future.
