Hello,
I need to upgrade my phone as my current handset is broken. However I can't receive the security code by text nor can I phone them. What can I do? This feature seems incredibly short-sighted as a great deal of people needing to upgrade probably can't access their current number. Surely there is an option to receive code via email address linked to account or similar? Help please!

Unfortunately, this is one of those measures that is intended to protect against third parties changing your phone without your express consent.
If you have access to another phone, I'd recommend calling EE C/S on 0800 0798586. Otherwise, you can complete your upgrade by visiting an EE shop.
