An old but unresolved Orange lock prob

I had a contract with Orange on PAYG.many years ago The sim got lost and the phone has been unused for years. I have contacted EE over and over again but I still can't get an unlocking code or even progress towards one. After 35 mins the chat line can't help, the shops can't help the phone wait is minimum 30 mins. On line I simply go round and round without any progress. I know the Number and the IMEI number. I have another mobile I can use but it's on Tesco. Can anybody direct me as to where I can go next?

Where did you yourself get this device itself originally? Did you buy it yourself new direct from EE or from a 3rd-party reseller or is it 2nd-hand? The unlocking process & costs are different.

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Hi Thanks for the reply. The phone predates EE. I bought it from Orange on what they called a PAYG contract at that time, so the unlock is advertised as free. I retired, stopped using the phone and now one of my G/children want to use it when they go to Uni. So I need to unlock it.

40 Mins on the chat line ended by being referred back to the website. A troll round the website ended in being referred to the text UNLOCK 150. But I don't have the original sim or another phone. I tried on my wifes phone and ended up with Tesco.

Phoning 0800 079 8586  ended in two 30 minute waits without avail.

The free bit is now over 2 hours of my time and an hour on various phones.

And to finish EE have the audacity to call this Help and support.

-Thanks for the try to help it is appreciated, but I am still stuck. if you have any further thoughts I am at my wits end. Regards Thanks again Stay safe.Frangog

PS I have the phone number and the IMEI number if it will assist.

UNLOCK text is only for Apples & has to be sent from no. in question.

You can try applying using the Unlocking your device form as the PAYG option and giving the mobile number that it originally came with.
