Not true with the prices nowadays

except when Apple deliberately slow down older models which is disgusting.

Yes. SIM-only isn't & works out cheaper if you can source a handset outright.

do you know what battery degradation is ?    Have you ever put a new battery in to an old device and seen how much that experience improves? No I didn’t think so.
