Getting an E-Stim Abroad

I’m studying abroad until the summer and had my phone snatched from my hand on the street in London. Came home to Los Angeles for the Xmas holiday and purchased a new iphone 15 at the Apple Store here.

New phone does not accept a SIM card, but rather has an e-sim. I have the lowest level EE account for when I’m back in London with a SIM card. I’ve heard it’s hard to get an e-sim with EE. Does it require a UK bank account? What other requirements? I currently do not have a UK bank account - only a US one. Please advise.

EE only offer E-SIM on pay-monthly contract accounts, not PAYG. A UK bank account is a pre-requisite for a pay-monthly billing account.

Do you know - is it difficult for a 27 yo student from the US to get a UK bank account?

Thats precisely why I’m asking. I’ve definitely heard that it’s hard. Just not sure HOW it’s hard! Can’t find that info anywhere. Any info would be appreciated.

Hi @Ustolondon2023

It's not an EE problem you getting a UK bank account. @bristolian  comments are the sum of your question.

Thanks
