Error with in-store iPhone 14 Pro Max Upgrade

Like many others, I decided to pre-order an iPhone 14 Pro Max in good time to pick it up on release date. I went into my local EE store yesterday to pick up the phone and trade in my current device through Anytime Upgrade. I sat in store for a good hour whilst they checked my current device and chose my new deal. However at the end of the process there was an error that prevented them from finishing the trade in. They rang the tech department and said it was a “nationwide issue” with the 14 Pro Max model. So I’d paid for my preorder and sat there for a good hour and left with my own phone. No fault of the team in store but still annoying.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience when picking up the 14 Pro Max from store?

I’ve had the same issue. Went to pickup again today, the initial issue was resolved, but had another issue pulling details for the anytime upgrade trade in. So two visits, 4+ hours waiting and no phone.

Staff were great and super apologetic, but what a hassle…

That particular model is not due until October, according to Apple website and so, depending how many each network receive and how many have pre-ordered will depend when it will be available to customers, this happens every year, but is down to Apple not sending them out, just surprised that shops do not know this, they should have been informed and know whether they have them in stock, bad management from the individual stores, in my opinion.

I had exactly the same issue and I still can’t get my new phone very disappointed that something like this takes this long to be corrected.

like you said no fault by the staff at the ee stores at all.

Anyone else had this problem? And have you got your new phone ?

I don’t believe that’s true as many other people including the ones that pre order it to be delivered have received their devices.

Yeah, that’s just not true. Probably not best to be making stuff up that makes the stores look bad either.

My device is there, it’s in store, I’ve held the box.

There’s a systems issue that seems to be only affecting those on Anytime Upgrade contracts.

I got my phone yesterday lunchtime as the store called me because they said the issue had been resolved. Based on the time of your reply though I guess it hadn’t been completely fixed nationwide today which is not good at all. I was worried that the process would hit another snag but the staff were very helpful.

hope it gets sorted for you soon!

I guess I was one of the luckier ones then.

Lucky you, haha.

Still can’t get mine as of this morning. Another issue with their systems now 🙄
