Cannot use FaceTime or IMessage?

Hi, I recently received my new handset, and successfully ported my old number. Everything else is working fine, I have updated the new number in My Number, but it will not allow me to activate FaceTime or IMessage, have tried just about everything suggested online - reinserting SIM card, mobile data is enabled, resigning into my Apple ID, but every time it just says ‘Activation failed, an error occurred’ - completely fresh out of ideas. Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Hi @Clmitchell81

To activate iMessage on your iPhone 17, ensure you have a stable network connection, check that the date and time settings are correct, and restart your iPhone. You may also need to turn iMessage off and on again in Settings > Messages, verify your number is listed under "Send & Receive," and confirm your Apple ID is signed in. If the issue persists, try resetting network settings and updating your iOS.

Please also have a look at Apple's support page If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime on your iPhone

If it's still not working, please call Customer Service on 150 where a guide will send a Network Update to your SIM card which will allow your device to recognise the number and activate.
