hmm...
"unfortunately, EE has stopped" 🤔
as a software engineer (and senior computer technician) of many years, i'd sure like to know why all (all of my android apps) except the "EE app" work on my android phone 😁 admittedly its an early form of android (version 6) but the earlier versions are pretty stable... and my phone is the wonderful HTC One M8 ... (using an optimized signal and cache cleaner i have recommended else where in the community to speed up any phone).
alas i never coded in android linux or java, but a brief peer down the rabbit hole on this one suggests EE app files are getting corrupted *during* installation (which is probably an error in the installation package itself: although thats an educated guess).
the good news is EE have kindly provided a link to the competition here:
https://ee.co.uk/win-1000-towards-your-bill
which i can access on my good old win10 PC (so thanks for that)
anyway, thoughts welcomed: has anyone managed to get the EE app running, pls? maybe it only runs on later versions of android...or even prefers samsung devices?
kind regards, OldSchoolTech.

Hi @OldSchoolTech I've moved your post to its own section as I'm closing off the Samsung one.
I'm assuming its due to the android version not being supported, if its impacting all Apps, then that would be my guess. Great phone btw, used to love the HTC one series. Shame they left the market.

hi jordan, thanks for your feedback! (which i was not expecting)... 👍
alas, due to work commitments, i haven't had much opportunity to test the "EE App" as much as i'd like. so far... i tested it over a number of days, ensuring i have 4 bar signal strength and all my phone caches were cleared 👍 it always says:
"unfortunately EE app has stopped"
not sure what you mean by "impacting all apps"? maybe you'll have time to clarify. i just noticed ALL my other apps work on android version 6. only EE App does not (that indicates a possible failure at install stage).
on google playstore itself, there is massive feedback that the EE app does not work (users indicate they are "unable to log in") link to EE app reviews is here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.ee.myee&hl=en_GB&pli=1
reinstalling the app, clearing the phone caches, re-downloading app does not seem to fix the issue, which again, points to app failure at the installation stage. if i have chance, i will do some more "digging", to see if i can address this issue for EE customers (since i am one too) 😛
from experience, if it is a coding issue, then the devs may have "dev logs" somewhere, raising then addressing the code failure, but i dont know if those are public logs in the case of EE.
kind regards, OldSchoolTech.

Apologies @OldSchoolTech I misread your comment, I thought you said all your apps weren't working. I've had a look and it does state in the playstore that it should work on Android 6 and above.
I've reached out to our App team to see if I can find out more, as soon as I hear anything I'll drop a reply.

hi @JordanTA
appreciate your efforts... but it looks like i can save you and the App Team some work 😊
today, i had chance to compile a list of solutions and suggestions from EE community forum and youtube. to my utter amazement, the app DOES load and IS NOT a coding issue! 😮
here's the real fix (tested and verified on android ver 6, HTC One M8) for you, me and the rest of us...
enjoy x
TRUE FIX : "unfortunately, ee (app) has stopped working"
1. go to settings > apps > find EE app > FORCE STOP > OK [this is so its not running in background]
2. Go to settings app/applications find EE app > clear data > clear cache.
NEXT....
3. Make sure you're on the LATEST EE app UPDATE
name of the EE app you want to update is: "EE: Game Home Work & Learn"
go to google playstore on your phone (net connection enabled) > if update FOR EE APP button is showing > press that. its a big blue button stating UPDATE. (press it pls) 😁
let the NEW update FULLY install.... (i noticed it takes a few minutes.. be patient, its around 48 MB download and has to "verify" too)
wait until you get the OPEN button showing after update on EE app play store screen. exit playstore, then open EE app from its ICON that is now on your phone home screen.
i retested to see if the EE app opens WITHOUT error and lo.... RETESTED : OK !!
app opens, NO "stopped working" message. SUCCESS 😁
kind regards, OldSchoolTech 🚀
