Hi,
My Google phone suffered water damage yesterday. Having left it to dry for a day or so, it turns on and has some accessibility but it's now stating there is 'no SIM card - no service' and doesn't look too promising in terms of functionality in general.
I am happy to upgrade early as have this option - but I wondered a couple of things 1) does the above 'no simcard' alert mean that the sim is damaged? and therefore 2) do I need a new sim card when I apply for the upgrade? I'd like to keep my number etc, but not sure how it all works.
Any advice gratefully received!
Thanks,

Hi @lois17
You won't need a new SIM as it's likely the phone which is damaged. If you can back up then I would do this and then get another device.
Thanks

Hello @lois17 ,
Welcome to the community,
Firstly, have you taken the SIM card out, given it a wipe and checked where you insert the SIM card and given it a wipe?
Second, you can request a replacement SIM card, by either going into the My EE App, clicking on settings and then click on device and sim and request a replacement SIM card or do it by logging in the website, or going into a store to get a replacement SIM card.

Hi @Schockwave - thank you!
I have taken the sim out yes, and wiped as much as I can. It's still saying there's no sim / service when turning it on. Also the functionality seems compromised e.g. not detecting touch on the screen, so it's difficult to open apps and use the phone in general!
Sounds like I need a new sim to move forward with anything. Thanks for letting me know how to get one!
Lois
