Oppo X3 Neo, Virtual Keyboard not showing

Ive got a 14 month old X3 Neo, and recently when trying to do anything that requires text input, the Keyboard doesn't show and at the same time the screen dims. Only a restart cures this.

Has anyone experienced this?

Yeah tried a search, That link is for a different issue where there is voice typing but none of the others.

My issue is "Zero" input methods available, coupled with screen brightness dropping

@westmacott7   Can you backup the device and then do a factory reset ?

There are a few suggestions to try on this Oppo help page before you try the backup and factory reset.
