Sim Card should be recognised straight away. Have you tried seeing if it works in another phone to rule out it's an issue with the phone or not?
Maybe a SIM Card Issue.
Is the handset unlocked?
You can try calling EE on 150 and asking them to send you a new Sim Card.
Or you can pop into any EE Shop You'll need to provide valid photo ID. Our EE stores will accept a passport (from any country) or a UK photocard driving licence.
Please note: if a driving license is being used as a form of proof, the address on the customer’s driving licence MUST match that of their EE account address for it to be accepted.
