Microphone

I have a Google pixel 8a and had it for about a month now and my microphone when I'm taking videos isn't working and sounds like wind blowing on it (even when I'm sat in the house) I have cleaned it, checked all my app permissions, the phone is updated, restarted the phone but it is still happening. What else can I do and if there is nothing else how much would it be to get it fixed.

Hey there @graciebabes2066!
If you haven't already, it's worth making sure your phone is fully backed up, then trying a full reset on this.

When you set this up as a new handset, it'll allow us to rule out if the mic problems are due to a software issue.

Google have a help guide on how to sort this right here 😊

If this still doesn't work we would most likely need to look into a repair, but provided there's no physical damage causing the issue, you'll be under warranty if the phone is only a month old.

We offer a few different repair options, but the quickest will definitely be locating a store with its own in-branch repairs.

You can check out your nearest one and book appointments via our store finder.

Hi @graciebabes2066 I can imagine it's frustrating to hear distortion on your videos.

Do you know if the problem is with the microphone when you're recording the videos, or the speaker when you're playing the videos?

If you're unsure, you can send a video to another phone, then play the video.

Chris S

Hi yes it is only when I record videos but I have been having people now
struggling to hear me when on a phone call

Thanks for letting us know @graciebabes2066

Do people say that it sounds like wind blowing when you speak to them too, or do they just struggle to hear you?

Chris S

They are struggling to hear me, saying it sounds muffled

Thanks Grace
