4G coverage often exceeds that of 3G already.
A 4G phone should very rarely, if ever, see 3G coverage now. On the rare occasion this happens, post sunset you will see 2G instead.

That device doesn’t support 5G is only a 2,3,4G device. The 3G switch off can not make a device 5G compatible as that’s a hardware limitation of the device.
