Changing phones

Hi All,

We have a Samsung A20e smartphone and we want to update it to the Samsung A05.  We are out of contract with EE but wish to stay with EE.  Is it possible to purchase the A05 from say Amazon and then take out a new sim only contract with EE without loosing our current ability to gift data, enjoy EU roaming?  We wouldn't mind buying the phone from EE however the charges are way above the Amazon price of £72

Absolutely. It is usually the best way to buy a phone yourself and use it with a SIM-only contract. The best thing to do is call EE and tell them what you want to do. They can discount the publicised tariffs to keep your custom so hold your ground. I have unlimited everything and pay only £10 a month. I also have EE Broadband which is why I have unlimited data, but if you don’t, you should manage a fair chunk of data for a similar price each month.

You can use your EE SIM in whatever phone you like. If you're out-of-minimum term, then you can change your existing line to whatever SIM-only plan you choose.

All current plans include data-sharing with the exception of No Frills ones. Whether EU-roaming is inclusive, depends which plan you choose.

The only caveat with the phone, would be to ensure that you purchase a UK-spec device. Any non-UK/EU spec-device has potential for compatibility issues.
