I can't believe how restrictive this box is on digital.
We are on full fibre so why can I only record/watch two programs at the same time? I had better than that with sky and Virgin in the 90s
What does it even record anyway? 90% of the programs I 'record' only allow me to watch via tv hubs rather than from the box itself. I don't want that I want the recorded programs.
When I set a program to record why does it not remember this across seasons, again other providers have worked this way for decades?
I will be moving to another provider as soon as my contract expires if this box is not brought into the 21st century.

The 2 channel limit is because the box doesn't know how fast your broadband is - the EE TV product doesn't currently have a way of treating every customer differently. e.g. on a slower connection, the TV channels could consume all the internet bandwidth and then customers would call the helpdesk to complain that the internet doesn't work on their computer. This may change in the future to better handle different connections, but not any time soon.
BBC don't allow programmes on their channels to be recorded, if your TV Box is operating in internet mode - this is their right, as it's their content and they control how it can be consumed. If your box is running in Aerial mode then the restrictions are removed (and also the box can record 4 aerial channels at the same time).
Recordings would work across seasons as long as the broadcasters chose to use the same recording IDs. They generally don't though, to prevent new episodes and re-runs being recorded from the same recording request. Other platforms have added logic to map between series, however YouView doesn't offer this.

Why not give the choice to the customer, not all are technically illiterate?
Please explain to me if BBC, ITV etc do not allow you to record their programs how this is going to consume the internet bandwidth if all you are creating is a pointer? You should be able to easily exclude these from the simultaneous count.

I can't comment on why certain product decisions have been made (by EE and YouView). I can only provide guidance on what is available, and help fix things that aren't working as designed.
When you select to record a BBC programme, the programme IS still recorded on the hard drive - you're just prevented from watching it (i.e. the link to BBC iPlayer is added to the recording when you try to watch it, not when it's scheduled to be recorded). This was a YouView decision, based on code complexity.

Wow!
I can understand the logic about making that mod to keep the code simpler, just can't believe just how wasteful and stupid that is. What a waste of every users network bandwidth! And of course that leads to all the other problems. Would love to know if other providers have done similar.
