@tis30

Home 9 needs following up with Home 7:-

The starting point for any further examination of this problem must be the make and full model number of the offending TV.

Many thanks Midnight voice.

I live in an apartment block so the aerial we have here is communal of course.

I used to be with Sky on their streaming puck and we get all freeview channels via the aerial in place and that works fine. I change the source from HDMI to Freeview and GB News has subtitles, no issues and always has had.

I was with Sky and did not need to go to freeview and again, that had subtitles. But I can do that, it just seems odd why.

I might not be comparing apples with apples and that is not my point. My main point is why on earth does EETV not have all freeview channels anyway but it does not, so end to that. Sky did. They have also had it for 2 years.

There are a few Freeview channels that do not appear as well.

I am not technical enough so I would rather leave the factory reset to another day. I have rued the day I ever did that on my laptop. It is for the brave and last resort.

Your expertise I really appreciate and am glad I found this forum to get such positive feedback from you and others.

@tis30 @Midnight_Voice

I believe that if you use the YouTube app  (available on the Box Pro) and go to GBNews channel subtitles seem to be available on its catchup content but not on the (current) live broadcast.

@tis30

I am now seeing subtitles on the GB News Freeview channel, on a more modern set than I first tried.

i still don’t see them universally on the GB News app on this TV though, nor on the app on the EETV Box Pro.

Yes indeed Freeview carries subtitles no problem and has done for so long.

The app on EETV does not show these anywhere. On Sky, I presume they feed Freeview directly, as they were there, indeed every freeview channel is on there and I don't need to go to my aerial view.  I don't know, I am not technical enough on that.

Anyway, to me, it is an EETV negative as there are other Freeview channels that are not showing also e.g. Talking Pictures, Dave and so on but I can get them leaving EETV and going to my aerial connection and watching them on Freeview.

It is odd and I must say, deeply frustrating. I feel why do I have EETV if I am going to NOW, Freeview and the various apps anyway.

I am a newbie and havent been 2 weeks yet, but the more I think about this, it will probably mean I will leave EETV and just use Freeview and apps in the future. Broadband is great, the TV choice at the basic level is so deficient.

Thanks again for all your advice. I really appreciate it.

Thank you, indeed.

An update, and problem solved.

I went to the local EE shop that set me all up on this EE journey and they gave me a number to call.

A long story short, the aerial connection was to the TV and not the EE Box. So I now have all freeview channels direct on my EE box and with subtitles as before. Was missing Talking Pictures too and so I have no need to go back and forth.

As I said, I am not technical enough to know but was talked through it all, We are happy once again.

Thanks so much for all the help and advice.

Hi there @tis30

Thanks for coming back to us and letting us know.

Glad this is now sorted for you.

Leanne 🙂

@tis30

Ah, that explains a lot!

You are probably OK now anyway, but you will find you no longer get channels on your TV.

if you want them still, you can get a wire (TV coax, male to female) and connect it from the Box Pro, Aerial Out, to the TV, Aerial In, which will relay the broadcast signal to the TV as well, and then you can watch live TV on either.

Yes indeed and all is working as I had with Sky so I am not missing out on anything.

Yes I hear you MV, but to be honest that is beyond me and for another time.

Thanks for all your advice, it is much appreciated.
