Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) have announced changes to how customers access some of their content.
What’s changing?
HBO Max app launches on 26 March 2026.
What this means for EE customers
EE customers will retain the ability to watch TNT Sports. App content will now be housed in the HBO Max app rather than the discovery+ app.
EE TV customers can continue to watch TNT Sports TV channels via the TV guide as usual, and if they have a TV box Pro, Edge, or Apple TV 4K, the HBO Max app will be available on those devices from 26th March 2026 (Apple TV 4K customers will need to download the HBO Max app).
See our help page for further information.

Hi @BOBLEX
If you search for HBO Max in your App store, it should currently show as 'coming soon' if a stand-alone app will be available for your mobile device.
It's worth checking the PS4 app store for this too, as it will be a fairly good indication if one will be released or not.

In other countries it is available on the PS4, PS5, and Xbox, so it will almost certainly be here once launched. Also don't forget that it uses the same technology as the Discovery+ app, so having that working is also a good indicator.

A observation
If you have an EE TV Box Pro or EE TV Box Edge, HBO Max will automatically be available in your apps rail from launch.
As a new app unless YouView and its partners have included it is their previous assessments of relative app positioning there is the risk/likelihood that HBO Max will be assigned a default position at the end of the Tv apps on the app rail. For example the recently introduced DAZN app currently has been assigned position such that it does not appear immediately visible when the Apps rail is initially loaded on the Home page. As the discovery+ app will continue to be available on the boxes to simply replace the the discovery+ app with HBO Max does seem to be an option.
Currently five apps appear on the top featured apps rail (these are the four PSB apps and one other that varies) , the remaining apps appear on the lower Apps rail in order of their (Youview) assigned prominence order. Due to the number of apps not all are visible when the App rail is first displayed an the customer would be required in any case to do numerous remote key presses just to find the less prominent apps.
I am just concerned at the number of remote presses necessary to find and select some of the apps to launch. Another driver for a favorite list of most frequently used apps rail on the home page

@BOBLEX I've just received confirmation that HBO Max will be supported on ALL platforms that currently support discovery+. So if the app works for you on PS4 now, HBO Max will be available for you on launch day next week.

As always @zulu17 you are spot on - the HBO Max app will initially have a low position on the main apps rail and screen.
The featured apps rail at the top has the ability for up to 7 apps. HBO Max will appear at position 6 on launch (7 for users in Scotland and Wales), to make sure it's as visible as it can be. It will also be linked to from the discovery+ app, so users shouldn't have issues finding their way to it.
Agreed - the ability to personalise the apps and channels rails would be good. PSB prominence laws in the UK make it a total minefield though, restricting what can be done.
