Sound Problems

New to EE TV.  Samsung QN95C tv, Samsung Q600C Sound Bar, EE TV Pro Box. When I look at sound setting in the EE TV Pro Box the only options are stereo or surround! I don’t think I am getting any dolby Atmos etc. and I think the sound is PCM!

The Pro box is capable of passing along high definition audio up to Atmos (where present) to audio equipment which can handle it. Can your sound bar handle it?

First, change the audio output to “surround”. If no difference, how is your kit connected? Pro box > HDMI > soundbar > HDMI > TV?

If so, do your cables support UHD video and audio?

Yes soundbar can handle Dolby Atmos.  EE box to HDMI1 and soundbar to Earc.  Why are the only options for sound stereo or surround?

Pass (no pun intended). I’ve always just assumed it’ll output 2.0, or multi-channel if provided by the content, letting the audio equipment handle it as it can.

My main Atmos capable app is Apple TV+. This is their “Hijack” supplied with DA. This is what the TV Pro box shows on the TV, and on the AVR.

As it happens, I have the amp set up for 7.1, rather than true Atmos (overhead/height speakers) - the distaff side won’t go for it - but you get the drift. If the content has it, the box can pass it along to kit which can use it.

Because Atmos is a form of surround sound.

A much better explanation than my airy attempt.
