There are minimal instructions on how to do this on either the EE or Discovery Plus websites. Have followed through a route which looks as though it will give a link after logging into EE account, but then it just comes to a choice of linking broadband or mobile - no mention of TV channels. Chose broadband option, which it accepted, sending verification code to correct mobile phone, but then says a problem linking. Meanwhile TNT Sports, to which Discovery+ is supposedly linked, is working fine. Tried EE helpline but of course not open - and past experience of it on other issues has been wearing.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

I believe you normally have to activate it through your EE App if it is included as part of your EE TV package. There should be an option in there to Activate Discovery+.
If your Broadband and TV are not appearing within the app, that is another issue entirely which will require intervention by EE. When signing up for the package you should have got a link to set up an EE ID, which links your online account so you can see everything in one place.
And yes, as the EE helplines are all answered in the UK, they are only open 8AM to 8PM on weekends.

Needed to use helpline (who were good) as EE had set up the online account incorrectly, without the option to activate Discovery+.
