We have returned our box so many times now I'm at my wits end. But we can only get it to pick up Calendar, our local news station on ITV1 , if we're on the HD channels we get Granada, which is nothing to do with us locally.  Can anyone help? We need local news station!!! 🙏 getting desperate now

A Box Pro in Aerial Mode, plus a Box Mini, which is de facto in IP Mode, lets you cover all the bases.

Internet mode? Aerial mode? This is all going waaaaay over my head. Hubby has looked at the back of the box and it would appear they have put an aerial cable in. But if he pulls is out there's no sound.

I to have to pay someone to come out and sort it. It's just beyond me.

Thank you

They? Who are/were ‘they’?

But the thing I hope we have established (though it’s not entirely clear) is that your TV does exactly the same thing that the Pro box does, so this isn’t a problem with EETV, it’s a problem with what the broadcasters supply in your area.

As regards internet mode (IP Mode) then if you happen to have a Box Mini as well as the Box Pro, then this works in IP Mode, where the channels come over the internet from EETV, and not over an aerial. Which means that possibly your HD itv channel there would carry Calendar. But if it didn’t, you would be worse off, as there are no SD channels in IP Mode at all.

If you don’t have a Box Mini, though, then you could put the Box Pro in IP Mode. But this involves all sorts of limitations you perhaps don’t want to get tangled up in, especially if it doesn’t give you Calendar in HD.

And these things are so region-specific that even somebody living quite close to you might get different results than you would get, if they tried this on your behalf.

So I think the best thing to do would be for us to ask EETV if there is any prospect of you getting Calendar in HD, given where you live, and if so, how.

It is quite confusing. https://ee.co.uk/help/tv-sport/manage-use/modes is the help page.

Calendar (and the Yorkshire region as a whole) isn't broadcast by ITV in HD in aerial mode. This is the same for any receiver using an aerial in your area.

Thus there are three choices via the EE TV box to my mind:

  1. watch the programme in SD - worse picture quality, but all that is available for the programme in aerial mode!
  2. watch the BBC alternative; or
  3. switch to internet mode.

How to do the latter is on the page linked to above. It does require a reset rather than just removing the aerial. The page gives more detail including the effect on recording. It will receive fewer channels, but it does include all of the BBC, ITV, C4, and C5 offshoot channels. The ITV channels are in better quality than aerial mode - they are all HD and ITV1 is the right region in HD.
