Just Started 14 Day Cool Off going from Sky Q to EE TV-so far Happy!

2-3 days in to 14 day cool off and thought this may be helpful to others-I had issues initially cancelling an order as the start date was too close to Christmas(just in case there were any issues as we have 2 complaining teens in the house) only alternative was to cancel the whole order which took about 8 business days twice as long as I was told!  Also found out they put us on a house move for no reason and would have had no broadband for 4 days-just as well we cancelled it!

It did give me more time to research the EE TV side of things and when I reordered I went for the Apple 4k box and decided this seems to have the best feedback.

Moving from Sky Q with multiscreen with HD add on and UHD add on and upgrading existing BT broadband from 150 to 300 and going with new Wifi 7 Router and Cyber security add on(I was informed it was Norton 360 which I currently pay £90 a year for 5 licences and the add on is £5 pcm for 15 licences) I did telephone Norton to ask if it was the same as Norton 360 which they confirmed!

We get Apple TV trial for 6 months and after cool off period get an Xbox 6 month pass as well(handy for one son!).

Equipment arrived as stated, line upgraded as expected-doddle to connect and register all bar one thing we had no log in for Now TV so a quick call and sorted that one-do not try via the TV, go online to Now TV and put your email in and say 'forgotten password' and they email a link and as your email is pre-registered by EE you just create a password and off you go.

We have the 'Works' TV pack at a discount for 3 months and then I shall change to Big Entertainment-as we still have Sky connected just in case I sat there and watched the same programme on Sky then EE(albeit a delay between them)and back and forth for ages to see if picture quality was that much different and Sky is a bit brighter but other than that no difference via the Apple box-and we are wifi on the box not ethernet! One thing I noticed was sound is a bit flatter but not really an issue. Picture quality great!

We were out of contract on both BT broadband and Sky Q-Sky wanted £71 or £77 dependent on who we spoke to for Sky Q-Cinema, Multiscreen, HD and UHD add on and Premium Netflix! Would not budge!

Getting(once I change TV to Big Entertainment add on HD & 4K and add Netflix Premium) a lot faster than previous broadband, WIFI 7 box, Cyber Security, EE TV, Apple TV(for 6 months free) all for £96.99 versus (we ditched voip phones as we did not use them) out of contract cost from BT was £63 pcm, Sky out of contract cost £91 pcm plus £90 a year to Norton so £161.50 pcm v £96.99! Even if we go to a new contract cost which we were quoted  it would be £118 pcm (albeit that included voip phones and a pre paid calls package).

So so far really happy with the quality of the picture and equipment! Apple 4k the way to go! Oh we have the free mini box in another room which seems fine also!

Hope this helps!

Good to see you’ve had a happy experience. I already had an Apple TV and subscribe to their TV+ service. They aren’t in Netflix’ league in terms of quantity but do have done excellent stuff. And with that box option you may find you can get Now’s 4k boost which isn’t yet supported on the EE TV box.

Hi all there is one area I do feel the EE TV system falls down a little (compared to Sky)and that is the dis-connected feel rather than an all encompassing easy to navigate system!

I am still figuring between using 'guide' button and 'menu' button how to go from EETV to Apple TV and then when you want to go to Now TV or TV Guide etc all gets a bit messy!

I have contacted EE today (not a success as I got through to be told I need to speak to another department-they put me through to them and he said its not his department and then once I got through to a third department I got cut off and they had my mobile and could have phoned me back but alas they did not!) as I have not received any information about Cyber Security seemingly I should receive an email telling me how to log in etc and nothing so far 5 days in!

I have not yet signed up to Netflix on EE as we still currently get it via Sky Q until we cancel and I did not want to loose all my saved 'continue watching' and stored watch list!

Does anyone know if I log into Netflix via EE TV using one email can I change the email on the account  and get this all back! I am guessing no!

Also and I am not sure why I find going from Apple TV to Netflix via a smart TV that Netflix struggles for a while to almost if feels get bandwidth-ie lags and load up slower or glitchy which it has not been previously!

You can register your existing Netflix account, when you click on the activation link they send you, you just use your existing credentials to sign in.

Nobody who subscribes to Now via EETV can get Now in UltraBoost, even on devices that support it for direct Now customers.

It’s getting past time when EETV should be releasing all its Now subscribers so they can go direct and have UHD over Christmas, and only come back when (if?) EETV ever get this working.

*Longtime YouView box owner & broadband customer (was BT now EE), but only recently a full EETV subscriber*

….and here’s me just about to try it on my Apple TV puck 🤦🏼‍♂️

Ah well. I’m guessing the marker is how it’s billed, not the kit it’s being tried on.

Hi, how have you found it now? I'm also considering changing from sky Q to EE tv due to costs?

Can’t speak to Sky Q. I already had the TV side when I was moved from BT to EE. Now paying £12pm for the 4k Pro recorder box, a 4k Mini box, NF HD w ads, and Now Entertainment 720p. Sports I’m not interested in, and won’t add Cinema as I get my movies elsewhere. Start adding stuff in Now and the costs mount up. If I went for Now HD Boost that’s a 50% uplift on my subs just for that 🤷🏼

For what it is I’m OK with it, tho wasn’t told that NF would now come w ads. So far I’ve now found them *too* intrusive. If I didn’t have the TV service I’d subscribe to NF direct, but dip in and out of Now as required.

HTH.

Hi all as I have been asked for an update:

to be clear we still have Sky Q connected and I am still using my Netflix account via them as its a premium account and I want to cancel with Sky so I can then log in on my original NF account so I do not lose all saved stuff!

Since installing it all we have basically been watching 'Masters of the Air' on Apple TV-Apple TV is great and faster to load than NF.

EETV has a row of icons at the top  for BBC iPlayer etc and Now TV-but overnight our Now TV icon has disappeared and Discovery Channel has taken its place!! I am not sure how this works does it work on a last viewed goes up there however to my knowledge no one has watched Discovery!

Still there is the issue of how to get back to find the right screen-Apple TV easiest as it has voice control which works!

Apart from watching Apple TV we have watched Netflix and my wife has watch via the normal TV guide at times.

At no point have we gone back to our still connected Sky Q box!

Reinforcing how little we watch our recordings as we cannot do once we make the switch!

So far still intending to cancel SkyQ!
