starting point
selected BT Broadband customerI have looked at previous questions re Firestick and EE wifi but my issue is slightly different but same result no connection.
I use EE wifi when visiting my friends house as can get good connection and he does not have broadband in his house. My computer my pad and my phone all connect with no issues.
I bought him a firestick to gain access to some more TV and having issues signing in
If using the Firestick remote control and I plug the stick into HDMi 1 and select cponnect to Network the EE Wifi appears and says Signal Good, then I select this with the main circle control and it then goes to Confirm Network, I press the circle again and it presses connect, then the Log in page of EEwifi appears with https...... /home again I select log in now by pressing the circle and it takes me to EE account and BT Broadband account then I select BT broadband as this is my home router and when press the circle again on the firestick nothing happens. When I then press the right arrow with 11 on it trys to go to sign in page I know this as the https changes to home/#login-dialog but we go back to the Welcome to EE wifi page again pictures below.

I keep trying and now see that the SELECT button does not work on any of the choices, only the refresh button works, is this an issue between EE and Amazon? It looks very odd

I think you are trying to change horses in midstream.
When at home, either start putting the FireStick on your BT router connection straight away and ignore EE WiFi, or if you start with EE WiFi, continue with that and don’t try to switch to BT Broadband.
In the latter case, you would be operating on your home network just as you do at your friend’s, except you would be pretending you haven’t got your own broadband there, whereas at your friend’s this is actually true,

Thanks for the advice even though it will take some contemplating! So when I go back home connect the Firestick to my BT Broadband and set it up then return to my friend and then it will just connect via wifi. All sounds great and will def try that, just could not understand why my computer phone or pad all connected no issue but this new device did and does still not connect. I am home at weekend so will be coming back again next week. Thanks Midnight_Voice

Are you saying that you can ‘change horses in midstream’ with your computer, your phone, and your iPad?
I didn’t get from your posting that they would work and the FireStick not, when you started them at home over your EE WiFi, just that they would work at your friend’s. Where the FireStick does anyway.
I wonder if these devices default back to BT Broadband when you are at home, something the FireStick hasn’t yet been trained to do?
But I have a FireStick here (though I suspect it being a Firestick doesn’t matter, just that it’s new, something I can emulate) so I will try the steps in your procedure and see what happens here.
Now, where’s that straightened paperclip? 😛

Thanks again for the time, yes they all have worked fine when away and use EE wifi, that was BT before. At sign in I just select BT broadband and password and is no issues.
I have noticed with the Firestick and EE that I cannot use SELECT on any of the 4 choices and only the refresh button works and then of course sends it backwards although the http address at top stays on log in.
I have not used this Firestick at home yet as bought it for my friend, when go back at weekend i will take it and sign in there
I hope I am making sense as this process does not. As said I cannot use the SELECT option on any choice they offer wether it be EE Broadband or BT Broadband same result we go backwards not fwds to sign in page which works on Phone Pad or computer anywhere I go
Regards

Sorry, but I can’t do what I promised 😢
Having reset my router, that is all I am now offered (plus a couple of devices that seem to have their own WiFi servers), and EE WIFi longer comes up as an SSID. Probably because my router now realises it is on EE.
So I can’t mimic your actions, alas.

Hi I am.back at home now so near my router. All good the firestick took ages uploading new updates etc. All works OK across channels. So when go visit my friend Monday will take a proven stick and then can see if EE WiFi copes. Thanks again

Good so far then. Please keep us posted as to how things go on Monday!

Drove down this evening as he needed support, all good!! no issues signing on to the Fire TV stick now have done it at my router which also used wifi. So some good advice now you can give if ever asked again. The Amazon Firestick TV needs updating through the main router hub of the BT or EE system so the EE wifi can sign in. Thanks so much for all your help and time. respect
