Football games on tnt & sky blurry!?

LordWard

Since moving over to EE, I've noticed that the usual football channels I use in tnt and sky are of poor quality. The players faces and names on shirts are blurred out, you can just about make out the player numbers. Close up shots of the players is okay.  I'm on the big sport package deal, and yet it's terrible. Meanwhile viewing live football on iplayer is clear. It's not the tv, as I'm using a new LG Oled, which is clear for everything else, but watching live football on tnt and sky has the same picture quality as if it was from the 1980's. How is this fixed?

Hi @LordWard

Welcome to the community.

Which EE TV box do you have? What connection speed are you getting?

@LordWard

The standard definition (SD) pictures of the premium channels such as TNT Sports and NOW Sky Sports are poor on the Pro Box, assuming that is what you are using?

Do you have the HD/4K add-on? Its a must for sports viewing on the Pro Box I'm afraid. HD sports starts at channel 430.

If you are watching the HD versions of the channels, try sticking the box into 1080p output and let the high quality TV you have bought do any upscaling.

You beat me to it @Profile closed - @LordWard you don't have the HD add-on, so you're just seeing the SD quality.  You can get TNT Sports in HD (for no additional charge) by using the discovery+ app, otherwise you'll need the £6 add-on.

And don't forget the 50 frames per second (fps) that this brings to NOW, makes a massive difference. 👍🏻

Thank you to all who replied, you are correct in assuming I have the Pro Box, it certainly isn't as clear as the main box in the lounge. HD channels seem like the only way to resolve this, so I will make an attempt to see if I can get discovery+ which should be available through the Big Sport package deal. We've literally just switched from Virgin media to EE and there has been so many problems already with Internet signal on the tvs, think those issues have been resolved now, now it's just about trying to clear up the picture for the football. Thanks for the advice, will return with an update if it has been resolved
