I recently enquired about getting Netflix on my bt box. After much work and a phone call I have now been sent an ee box. Is there a SIMPLE guide to setting up anywhere?

the booklet supplied talks about different modes/ methods without guidance on what they mean.
do I just use the same inputs as on my by box?

thank you

@Sarah505   Aerial mode,  you plug in a TV aerial,  IP mode you connect it your router via WiFi,

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Thank you for your reply

I understand that but how do I know which to choose?  There is no guidance on what criteria to apply

@Sarah505

Your choice when installing the box is simply about whether or not you receive the free to air channels (like BBC, itv etc.) via an aerial, or over the internet.

All additional subscription channels are delivered over the internet. You will find out more about the two modes here.

Which works best for you depends on your needs. If you like recording itv and skipping adverts or like niche Freeview channels like Talking Pictures for example, inserting an aerial when setting up the box is preferred.

If you don't have or want an aerial or prefer core channels in better base quality than via Freeview and are not bothered that quite a few are missing, then use internet mode. Basically, unless you plug in an aerial, the box will set up in internet mode either way. Hope this helps.

P.S. Only the Pro Box supports aerial or internet mode, the Mini Box is internet only.

Oh thank you so much. That makes it much clearer especially as I have been sent the pro box and a mini box.
With luck it will all be up and running tomorrow

thanks again

There are guides here  https://ee.co.uk/help/tv-sport but I've listed a summary of the steps below for the Pro box

  • If its the Pro box you basically connect the hdmi cable from the box to the TV and put the power cable in.
  • You can use it without an arieal, which is known as IP mode, but you don't get as many channels as you would with Freeview.
  • The current list of channels is here https://ee.co.uk/help/tv-sport/manage-use/channel-guide
  • If you are using it with an areial the areial is plugged into the appropriate port in the back of the pro box before you set it up.
  • The set up process when it is powered on using the remote is a straight forward process step by step which usually takes about 15 minutes and a short video will show you how to navigate to all of the features.
  • All your subscribed channels and free to air channels will be visible and the Netflix app should be linked or you can link it to a current subscription.
