EE TV app and live terrestrial channels on an Apple Store sourced 4K TV box

If I purchase an Apple 4K TV box directly from Apple and install the EE TV app will this allow me to get access to live terrestrial channels or does this only work when using an Apple 4K TV box sourced from EE?
Also, I assume that if using an Apple 4K TV box I'd be free to use any Wifi router rather than be stuck to the EE router when using the EE TV Pro box?

No - the Freeview channels can only be watched on an EE TV loaned Apple TV.

You can use any router you like when watching TV on the Apple TV as it doesn't rely on support for multicast.
