Hey Guys!
Just installed a Mini and Main box at my Grandparents along with a new BT Fibre line and router. All works great apart from two things.
The mini box needs to be in direct line of sight to the remote, this is a brand new box today and I was under the impression that the remote was bluetooth? The box needs to live inside a cabinet so a line of sight can't be achieved.
Does anyone know if maybe I have setup the remote wrong? (It shows as unpaired in the settings, however it very clearly works to operate the box) Am I mistaken and need a USB IR Extender?
I also have the box plugged into HDMI Arc yet cannot control TV Power, only volume.
I have tried Home +9/7 multiple times, to no avail. Any and all advice appreciated.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

The unpaired remote works now because it will use IR until it is paired, but this does demand line of sight.
Your Box Mini needs to be in direct line of sight when you first set it up, but once paired, it no longer needs this, will start operating over Bluetooth, and can be moved to the cabinet.
Given where you are now, besides resetting the remote, you also need to Factory Reset the Box Mini, out of the cabinet, to let it re-pair with the remote.
You may find that once the remote is paired properly, it will be able to control the TV power. If not, ensure that CEC is turned on on the TV. Their TV may know CEC by some fancy name, e.g. like Bravia Sync on Sonys; tell us the make and model of the TV, and we’ll tell you the name it uses for CEC.
Further, you may need to go into Settings/Remote on the Box Mini, and ensure the remote is set to control the TV as well as the Box.
Finally, there’s nothing wrong with using the HDMI ARC port for the Box Mini, except that this is the only port which will support a soundbar or AV system; so if there is any prospect at all that your grandparents may one day get one of these, best to choose a different HDMI input for the Box Mini now, so they don’t have to change from the one they are used to in the future.

I’ve had the same Bluetooth connection issue with my mini box & remote. (Pro box works fine).
Home +9 didn’t seem to do anything.
took your advice and did a factory reset ( what a faff putting all your passwords etc back in 😆)
I still have no Bluetooth connection from my remote. This should be easy…. Sadly not ☹️

Hey there @BCx, thanks for reaching out to us about this!
Does your remote still work via Infrared, and have you had a chance to double check the batteries to ensure these have a decent amount of charge?

I'm experiencing the same issue, Bluetooth remote is only working as line of sight over IR and showing as unpaired in TV Box Pro Bluetooth remote settings...
Did any one find a fix for this? I have tried the following with no success:
Home/9 for reset Home/7 for re-pair - Did not solve
Box off / on / full power cycle - Did not solve
Box Factory reset - Did not solve
2 hours on the phone to EE technical support - Did not solve

Please help...
I have recently signed up to EE TV and have my new EV TV Pro Box with 'Bluetooth' remote...
I replaced Sky which also had a Bluetooth remote, this worked fine.
My EE TV Pro Box sits in an AV cupboard slightly away from my main lounge area, same as where the sky box was, so i need this Bluetooth functionality on the remote in order to control the box as i don't have line of sight.
The Bluetooth remote is only working as line of sight over IR and showing as unpaired in the TV Box Pro Bluetooth remote settings...
Despite my best efforts i can not get the remote to pair over Bluetooth to the TV box.
