Connecting EE TV Minibox to BT Hib via Ubiqiti Access Point

Hi - I have BT/EE Fibre 500mbit/s connection via a BT hub and have recently added an EE TV mini box (in addition to my existing pro TV box) so that I can watch TV in a separate room.  This room has a Ubiquiti mini access point that provides the wifi signal to the mini box.  The ubiquiti access point is connected via an Ethernet cat 7 cable to the BT hub and is providing sufficient bandwidth.  I’ve connected the EE TV mini box to wifi and all the EETV channels have been downloaded to the box.  When I use apps on the mini box like iPlayer they work fine but when I try to watch live tv I get very pixelated TV (basically no/frozen picture) and very poor audio that make it unwatchable.  The mini box is recognised by the BT hub with excellent signal strength.  The EE TV mini box works fine when I connect it directly to the BT Hub.  I assume there is an issue with Ubiquiti mini access point but don’t see why when the wifi and internet connection via access point and the Bt hub works perfectly.

Any suggestions???

Thanks.  I spoke to EE/BT support today who tried various things.  We noticed that SD channels worked okay but HD channels did not implying something bandwidth related (although streaming HD TV over the internet works fine).  As you suggested we have resorted to a direct Ethernet connection.  My permanent solution is to get a cable splitter with one cable running to the access point for wifi (the access point doesn’t have an an Ethernet out port) and the other cable running to the EE mini box.  When I checked the direct Ethernet connection approach, it worked well for both SD and HD.  Just need to buy some new cables and a splitter now!

From what I remember of conversations on the BT forum when mini boxes were first launched, the suggestion was they will only work via WiFi when connected to a BT Smart Hub.

I suspect this is still the same with EE as although the boxes have a new shell, they are exactly the same under the hood.

I do know that some users got round this by running an ether net cable from the access point to the mini box, but I am not techie enough to know if this feasible with Ubiquiti kit (or your layout/usage).
