Apple TV 6 month trial didn’t kick in

I signed up for EE broadband with EE TV a couple of days ago and decided to include the 6 month Apple TV trial that was on offer. I specifically checked the T&Cs on the EE website, as I’d had an Apple TV 6 month trial before via my mobile contract, and they said “You’re still eligible if you’ve already benefited from our six months’ free Apple TV+ Membership offer before”, so all good.

After the order, I received a “Thanks for choosing EE” email with links to activate Netflix and Apple TV, so I activated those straight away. However, I then received a separate “Start watching Apple TV+” email which implied that the £8.99 charge would start straight away.  When I sign in to EE and check plans and subscriptions for TV, Apple TV shows as included for the next month with auto-renew on. In fact, under “Get Extras” the free Apple TV 6-month trial is still listed.

Does anyone have any idea why I appear to have been put onto the full cost option instead of the trial?

I’ve had a couple of free trials of Apple TV+ before. The confirmation you get from Apple is confirming the package you are on, and it’s costs, but for the duration of the trial I received an invoice each time for £0.00.

Thanks for your reply.

I haven’t had any comms from Apple yet - only from EE and it says the following: “You'll see a £8.99 a month charge starting on your next bill.”, so that implies to me that I’m not on the free trial and have gone straight to billable. I would imagine that most people signing up to EE TV are going to tick the free 6-month Apple TV+ box, so this may be a common problem if there are issues with the sign up process.

It does kinda look as if the free trial hasn’t been implemented. 0800 800 150 /TV option and hopefully you get someone who can give the system a nudge and sort it out
